Two days to go

November 28, 2015

I think the most annoying/difficult part of this editing process currently is having to hear myself speak Dutch. I don't think many people would understand my dislike towards my mother tongue.

I've also been editing more in After effects, but realised that the edit I'd been working on for weeks didn't really fit the video. So now I'm back to just normal editing in Premiere. That's not saying I haven't learned some new techniques in After Effects along the way. I can draw lines, cut people out of their environments and now know how to use a transparent layer to animate my frames.

In my previous project i was able to edit my video much earlier, or at least, have it almost finish much earlier. I feel like this project is dragging on somehow. Even though I like the idea, the way the video looks right now is not nearly as satisfying as my first documentary.

I feel my dissatisfaction has a lot to do with the fact that I myself shot the footage. I didn't take enough time to interview people, I didn't set up the shots well enough,The sound would have been better if I'd had a microphone, etc. I'm critical of my video because I know I can do better. So now I know what to look out for the next time I try to shoot something. look at the light, listen to the sound, and look at where your subjects are looking. (some where standing, some where sitting, so there was a difference in low/high angles.)

But it almost done now. time to look forward to the next one. =)
